ROOM

Recently I finished the book called ROOM. I loved this book and could not put it down and here is why. I loved the fact this book is from the perspective of a five year old little boy and to see the world that he lives in through his eyes. I felt like this book was wonderfully written when you stop and think about that. The story behind this is actually terrifying and in today's world is kind of not off base as something that could happen.
Jacks mom was kidnapped at sixteen and forced to live in a 12 X 12 shed.  She then becomes pregnant and has jack. fast forward five years and jack is a sweet boy that was raised with her in a room. no outside time no running and climbing. they had a bed, tv, wardrobe, small kitchen area and a small table. I couldn't image myself in this room but to think this woman had a child and raised him for five years. I have two kids, boys, and they are wild. It would literately drive me crazy being cooped up in a 12 X 12 space. they come up with a plan and the way the mom explains it to the boy is exactly like the way Dora the explorer explains things to the little boy (this is his favorite friend he has is Dora in the TV). I am amazed at the author here it was very clever way to have the story wrap around something like this that the child in the book could understand.  Jack pretends to be dead and the mother rolls him up in the rug and tells the man that stole her that he died. The man takes the rug out to the truck and drives off with Jack. At the first stop Jack jumps out of the truck and runs for help.
I wont give away the ending but I do think that you should read this book. Emma Donoghue is quite amazing. she also wrote a book called The Wonder, however i have not yet read this book yet.
My favorite part about Room was that i got to read the book then watch the movie. books are better than movies though !!! book worm lover forever!!
