Atlantia

I have finished the book Atlantia by Ally Condie !!! two world depend on one another to survive as one, just as two sisters need to trust in one another to save each world. I love the character Rio in this book a supernatural Siern that uses her voice to save the world. Siern is a human that was born in the world of Atlantia under the sea that has special powers with their voice. I feel like this was a great book I have read Ally Condie books in the pat as they fall under my favorite theme dystopian, and Atlantia does have that feel to it however it never does state that the world ended but much there was a divide of people where some stayed above and some went below. the book was very entertaining and builds on trust with family and the love between two sisters. I would recommend this book to others!!

Atlantia by Ally Condie

This is my new pick for my personal fun reading. This is back to the dystopian theme that I just can not get enough of. So far this is really a great book it scared me at first because the beginning reminded me of Divergient but it quickly moved to its own kind of dystopian. I am about a fourth of the way though an can not put it down. can not wait to write about it in the next few days after I finish it.

Baby Count Down

As I approach my due date and have now been put on bed rest from work I now have a lot of time on my hands as my toddler is in daycare still. The hubby is away at work and I find my self wondering what it might be like to be a stay at home mom. what does one do all day long? I know that once my son is out of daycare I will have lot to do, also once this baby comes out in the next week life will change as we know it. I try to imagine myself being a stay at home mom. I have worked since I was 14, I love to shop and I love to buy things for others to how them I care. So thus my problem at hand I spend too much money and I am looking at quitting my job to raise my children. Which I mind you  was my dream come true. What is my time going to be spent doing? well I have started to put together a lesson plan for my older son for preschool, I have also decided to write my own book. It will be a young adult book, fantasy with a little science mixed into it with some real world issues going on in the world. I feel as though it should take me more than a year to write this book as I have never taken much writing classes and my process is scattered. I know the plot I know the cliff hangers but it is the tying them all together that will be the hard part. The book has no title yet. wish me luck!!!

The Kitchen House

This is one book outside the dystopian theme that I normally read. I enjoyed the book but makes me look back at where our country came from and where we are today. In the late 1700's the kitchen house was a common term known for where the black would sleep and cook and prepare the white peoples food. they sleep on pallets on the ground and did not know what it was like to sleep on a bed. one day the master of the plantation returns home with a little white  girl that was orphaned on her trip over and as she did not have a place the master took her in as a slave and she slept with the black and worked with the black. on her 18th birthday she would then be a free woman and able to make her own decisions. During this point in the history there was a lot of drama regarding who was ok to date and who was not ok to date rape ran livid with female blacks. It was normal for a black woman to have to "service" a white master, weather she wanted to or not. This ultimately came down to la family secret of the plantations master having had a child with a black woman and he kept the child with his slaves to watch over her. This child knew that she was a secret and had to watch her father have other children with his wife and see them treated much better than her self. the wife miss judge the situation thinking that Bell daughter of the plantation owner was a mistress. this drove the wife in to such a downward spiral that she ended up drugging her self most of the time. later in life the children she had would live thinking that bell was their fathers mistress, when in reality she was nothing but his daughter. This then set in action a family ordeal Marshall was the plantations owners son and he followed in his fathers foot steps and had him self a mistress and a wife. it drove him mad the way his father died and what he left him with on the plantation. I will not give away the ending in this blog as I urge others to read it a well and to see how far our lifes have come from these dark periods of time.

6 weeks left

So reading has been a slow process as I only have 6 weeks left until I give birth. Lucas is a busy guy inside my tummy and so I take advantage of my sleep time. I am reading between the lines by Jodi Picoult, as my due date is coming up I was looking for a light hearted book. So far I am only 15% through the book (just started) but I feel like it's a charming book so far a little life of what happens when we are not reading books and what our characters do in their spare time. I am excited about this book.

Jurassic World

Ok so I haven't read the Jurassic park books however Jurassic world is way better than the Jurassic park series. As a girl I enjoyed every min of the movie it took me back to the age of 13 when the other movies were pretty popular. I feel they did an amazing job of keeping the jurassic park movie slightly in the story line but not the total focus. The cast was great I feel like the love story was an under line story that kept some of the audience routing for them to kiss and be together. The graphics were not spared here there were dionsores every where. I look back at the 90's movies and they were great for their time but now 2015 seeing the difference makes you feel like you were taken into the movie your self. Not too many movies get me excited nor make me feel like the movie is actually happening. I got the sense that I was taken into a make believe world. I loved it! My new goal is read the actual Jurassic park book ! My only thing about the whole movie was the "bad guy" was not as tuff as I wish he could have been and it was the only bad acting during the movie everything else spot on.

Books that irritate you

Ok I started reading "shatter me" by Tahereh Mafi. I am half way through the book and I do like the book but feel like the main character is so annoying Juliette is a 17 year old girl that as some kind of disease when she touches someone she hurst them or kills them by accident. The book is staged after the end of the world happen and the government took over on devising food, but as she was sent to insane instatutuion to live out the reader of her days a resistant group get wind of her power and wants to use her. She meet Adam a boy from her school that she had a crush on and together they try to fight their way to freedom. During which you read from her point of view of feeling crazy and at times it is a bit much but still a good read. Not done yet but close.

Hated the ending of a book

Ok ok I am lover of books sometimes I complain about the ends of movies, I haven't read a book where I wanted to yell at the book after I read it. Yes it is true I hated the ending of this book it was stupid sorry for those who loved it.  An Ember In The Ashes is a great read until the end. The book takes place in a wold like Rome where where there is a strong female lead shared by a strong male lead that are star crossed lovers that never really got a chance to be together or so we will never know. The book end so aruptly that we do not know if the main characters die or live ... Also we do not know if there will be a second book at this time to finish the story off. I feel as tho this book started a story and I read it for no reason as I never got an ending. The writing is great the plot is awesome but I want to know the ending to the story.

Dystopian books

My favorite type of reading is the dystopian themed books something about starting over in this world and building things with the resources left over, that makes me want to try harder in life. Right now I am in the middle of a trilogy "The Testing" the first book sets place of an actual testing ground if the teenagers are smart enough to get through the gates to the university of common wealth. In this book there were seven stages of war that took place on earth before them the testing puts them in cirimstances of those where they are forced to use life and death choices, and they are graded based off those choices. This book has a strong female lead that also has a sweet love story to keep you wanting to read more. When compared to the other dystopian themed books hunger games, insurgent, and matched all which I have read I feel this book never got the proper attention, well written and good plot. I am half way through the second book "independent study's" I will report back at the end of the book but so far a great read to back up the first book!

Reading reading and more reading

Ok so I have not blogged in a long time but hey what can I say my family is growing we are moving and reading a ton! I have finished the lunar chronicals and loved them can not wait for winter to come out in nov. I am looking forward to that time of year as I and due oct. 11th and will have a lot of time to read read and read some more while bonding with my new member of the family. We decided to move to a bigger home with a yard to allow my son space to run and play where it is safe for me to have the baby I am looking forward to the next ten years in this home!
Books that I have read ok I finished "vanishing girls" a book my book club picked out and I have to say my ladies know how to pick books I loved the book, plot of the story and title kinda didn't make a ton of sense to me .... But hey sometimes I miss things lol. The book was primary about a girl that deals with the death of her sister but you don't know that until the end of the book, which is my fav type of book that has a twist at the end. However though out the book I sometimes wondered if she was possibly having multiple personality disorder because I noticed that she never spoke to her sister one on one.  I give this book a 7-10

Book stores a dying breed

Ok the hard part about loving books is wanting / creating a list of books you want to read. Why is it hard.... Because so many books to read and so little time. I find that I listen to a book on audible I read a book on my iPad and I shop the book stores for the next book I am going to down load. I have books on the mind all the time. With this being said we need our book stores to be downloadable books that you scan the bar code to purchase so we can still go see and hold the book in our hands, yet buy it on our kindle nook or iBooks for some. Think about it inventory would go down on books less people to run the store however I think this book store should be a cafe that serves coffee and lunch foods, with over stuffed couches chairs and great activity for the children. I think the book store should be a place of learning and crafts for children that look forward to going to the book store. I think I found my calling!

Prego Blues

It's been quite some time since I have been able to blog. I have been pretty sick with the stomach flu three times. A birthday for my son , of corse it was Mickey teamed. So after life took over for a bit I am finally getting back into the read chair. Oh did I mention I am creating my own comfy cozie spot for reading I am super excited.
Ok so I finished "Scarlet" by Marissa Meyer now I had a hard time in the beginning of the book getting into the story line as I was a huge fan of the character Cinder. Scarlet introduces a new character right off the bat and is hard when you are really into the love affair of cinder and the prince, as well as finding out that Cinder is actually princess Sleane. Once your about a third through the book your unable to put it down. Cinder is disconnected from all she knows unable to talk to anyone to help her make any of the decisions on what would be best leaving her to become very self confident. Scarlet is the title of the book but also the name of the second main character who's journey takes her to find her grandma whom was taken by a pack of lunar controlled wolf packs. Cinders and Scarlets story collided at the end. Scarlet leaves off with you abousltly needing to read the third book "Cress" right away.
Thus means I am half way through "Cress" I can't wait to find out what happens.

Road rage

Ok so the reading this pregnancy has been minimal sorry to say I pick up a book and fall asleep in two min. Ridiculous !!! Road rage today I went and dropped of my two year old at day care. I figured I have been sick for a few days and that a coffee was in need. I pull into my fav coffee shop and the line was four cars deep. That's fine it's my day off I say to myself I have time. I put the car in park and start flipping through the radio stations a few min later a lady starts yelling at me from her car honking the horn and causing me out I pull up the three inches that I can holding that's what she wanted. She then try's to cut me off in line. Gets out of her car and starts taking pictures of my car and me. Then she starts calling 911. What is wrong with people? I stayed in the car and remained calm. When I got to the front of the line she started yelling at the coffee stand people. "Don't let her leave the police are coming to get her." Crazy town!!! Seriously what is the deal. My coffee stand people said that she causes problems there a lot. They said don't worry about it to go along with my day but seriously how crazy are people.

50 shades of gray part 2

Ok so I was a lucky wife ... My hubby took me for Valintines day to see the movie. I was excited to see the movie I was interested how the book and movie would compare to one another. Yes it was compressed so some of the parts did not make since to my hubby. So I had to fill in some of the blanks. However the guy was great at being Christian but I did not approve of the girl that played Anastasia. She was so not what I had pictured. I guess I was expecting the girl next door look. At times I found my self fixated on her teeth because of all the spaces in them. It didn't ruin the movie for me but I just wish they picked a different girl for that part. Other wise I fully liked the movie it was clean not to trashy and just risky enough. Can't wait for the next movie!!!

50 Shades Of Gray

Valentine's Day and 50 Shades of Gray. What a time to have this movie come out. Well done movie people. You have every guy in the world going to see this movie with their wife's , girlfriends or other person in their life. You can not take a book about suduction sex and romance about a billionaire falling for a small town girl, and put it on a screen. As women we are thinker we incision things we love the book because we made the man what ever we wanted and we played the girl. We fell in love with Mr.Gray we thought of our perfect built man and his perfect home in a city that well I live very close to so it was easy for me to get attached to the romance. I as well am a hopeless romantic leaving the book to sweep me off my feet. As I have been reading the reviews from friends and family they are saying that it's not worth going to see it. So do I go or do I wait for it to go to redbox. I think I will go see it. Most people hated twilight when it first went to film I loved it.

Paddington

So I remember reading about paddington the bear as a child and was I excited that my son was going to as well enjoy this special bear that was corky and funny. My son is almost two and I know that's very  young still for going to a dark scary loud theater but he did pretty well. However I am not impressed with the movie all that much. They nailed the graphics the bear looked like a real bear but something in the acting of the characters just didn't do it for me. Made me think of the books I read as a little girl so I guess it served its purpose.

Confession # 17

I love children's books .... I love sitting with my son at night reading to him before we go to sleep. My son is the average boy that has so be doing something all the time and running and a shaking everywhere. At times it's hard to keep up with him but recently he has calmed down and started reading books with me at night night time. It's sweet when he asked for another story and of corse I give in who wouldn't when a child asked you to read a book! Best thing in the world.

I have finished the first book ashes of twilight. The ending was predictable but I enjoyed the concept of the book. I am interested what book two holds I store as I believe that Wren will seek to find what the new world outside the dome will have I store for her. I hope that pace is still in the book series and that their love will grow stronger though out the next book. I also hope that the mines continue to have saved more people, but not betting on it.

For now I am going to finish Scarlet from the liner chronicals. I like to go back and forth on series to keep me engaged to keep read and I do not get stuck.

Also for those who are following baby we are midway though week six baby is making mommy sick. It she is hanging in there and teaching toddler to eat crackers in the morning

Confession #16

Ok so I am still reading "Ashes of Twilight" it's a trilogy that takes place after the world ends. The human race servived under a dome with two types of people those who live under the ground that fuel the cole that run the fans that keep the air clean and allows food to be grown. However the ones in the car have evolved into "shiners" that can see in the dark. They are the lower class population, our main character is Wren and she is convinced that the sky is blue and that there is a better life out there for her. The book is slow in the beginning but once wrens friend dies the book speeds up and is much more interesting, as the love story begins with a boy named Pace that has been out side the dome and knows that the sky is blue. Right now I am half way through the book so more to come. Also I am downloading Amy Polers book "Yes Please" should be a fun one! Let's see how much book reading I get done now that I am an expecting mama with a toddler!

Morning sickness

Morning sickness is a lie... I think a man named morning sickness ... It has to be a man that named that. I am in my first trimester of pregnancy and full on symptoms have hit. Although I am excited and over whelmed with the joy of creating a human creature inside of me ... I am miserable an hour after eating. No matter what time of day it is.  I wake up in the middle of a nap and puke my brains out. At work I know people hear the sounds coming from the bathroom. But after I puke I am good so that is something. It should be named after food sickness in the first trimester, or something to that regard.

God is good !!!

I have been prying hoping and wishing ... And God answered those prayers for me. I have been following gods foot steps for five years now. And I don't normally talk like this so please forgive me for thanking God if you do not see though his eyes. But I have been asking God to answer my prayers for seven months of asking for another baby. At times I have felt I was asking for too much because I have one healthy little boy that I love to the moon and back. While everyone was sad that the Seahawks lost the super bowl I was so excited in my own joy in the bathroom looking at my two lines indicating that everything I had wished for had come true. God is good... He has been there when I needed him most and for that I am so thankful to be a child of God. End of September I will be welcoming a wonderful bundle of joy ... Now I am praying for a girl but hey I am happy either way. Baby #2

Confession 15

Well my little guy is sick with the nasty upper respitory bug going around. There has been lots of staying home snuggles and reading happening in my house. I have just finished the chosen ones and the beautifule ones. I enjoyed them both as they are vampire related/ dystopian themed book. I felt like the twist of Thane helping her in the end was ok but that the author could have done a better job of showing their love for one another. I was not at all impressed with the love triangle in this book. In fact at times it confused me. But it's an ok read. I have moved on to Ashes of Twilight. Very excited about this book I am only on ch. three but the ideas of a society under a dome living past the fibers on earth sound very interesting. Hope you all are staying healthy!

Confession #14

I am in love with Timebound by Reysa Walker !!! I have been vegging out on this book. I am so captivated bulg the theory behind the age of our society being able to time hope and see history being made until someone comes along and changed it to benefit themselves. The adventure takes you on a journey that keeps you on pins and needles waiting to find out what is going to happen who is going to help and where is she going to land in the end. I am not done yet and I have a feeling I will be up all night until I am done with this book but seriously I have not been this excited since hunger games!!

Super Bowl 49

Heck yes!! Seattle Seahawks going to super bowl 49!!!!!! Huge fan of the Seahawks and our amazing quarterback ! Excited that our team was able to come together in the last five min and make something beautiful happen ! Go Hawks!!!!

Confession# 13

I don't ever really hate books I normally can find the good in most things. There are just dark books out there that make you stop and wonder about the person that wrote the book. I have just finished Sharp Objects. I am glad I am done with it as I did not enjoy the book and felt way outside my likings for book with this one. There was a lot of curl things going on with the main gal as a cutter and someone that as lost a sister. She came from a broken home and she had no self esteem. She didn't love her self and she didn't care if she hurt others. It's just a nasty book. I know that most muder mystery books are dark but this was on a whole different level that I found painful myself to read. I finished the book in hopes that there would be a happy ending but I felt robbed of that as in the end it was rushed to tell you a twist. Now I love twists and this coming from the author of Gone Girl but still not my style. I loved Gone Girl but I do not recommend Sharp Objects nore Dark Places.

Starting early !!!

Love that my son love to sit and look at his books while I read best time in the morning !!!

Confessions #12 finished big little lies

Omg I think I that this book had me on pins and needles the whole time! Wondering one who is going to die and who is the killer. In the mist of being caught up in the drama of a small town school politics between moms I can relate as I have my own little one. My god how I loved Jane always second guessing her self and child. With so much that has happened to her and to fine out ..... Spoilers alert.... That the real reason she came here was to find Saxon Banks .... That guys got what he deserved! I feel like this was a great novel because I was trying to get away to read every chance I got I would recommend it to any murder mystery lover.
Ok I have got to catch up with my book club gals we are reading sharp objects and the chosen ones. The chosen ones have a prequel called the beautiful ones I read it in a day very easy read that leads us into the chosen ones. I abousltly liked the beautiful ones. Did not put it together that it was about vampires until I read it. Great day read.

Confession #11 sick days

Having a child typically means that you try to go to work to save you paid time off for when baby is sick and can not go to daycare. Normally when baby gets sick you also get sick slowly every one around you gets sick, and thus starts the cease pool of germs. I must confess my child has phamonia and I have bronchitis and after days of no sleep being thrown up on from coughing so hard and multiple baths I sent my child to daycare today... He didn't have a fever and was excited to go. But sometimes a mama just needs to sleep.

Confession #10 "unbroken"

I love reading books that will be movies. Reason number one.... Well the book must have appealed to someone to spen thousands to make it a movie! Two I love to see the book unfold on the big screen. Right now I am reading unbroken... Well I confess I listen to some books in the car ... This is one of them. I some times travel for three to four hours in the car when visiting my in laws and can get some of the more adult readings on my list out of the way. Right now I am about half way through "Unbroken". At heart I love history so I am always interested in learning about Americas hearitage and how we came to be the land of the free. This book is exciting but painful at the same time. Starting out as an athlete that goes to the Olympics and then after Pearl Harbor gets drafted, over comes so many fears to be captured and played with like a cat with a mouse. Also to live in a raft with two other men for 40+ days is crazy. I am not done with it yet but I am very curious to find out how in the world this man gets through this war. Where I am at now he was shipped to Japan and separated from his raft buddy. He has broken out of his cell and stole food, but did not get punished. Personally I feel that the Japanese favor him because he was an Olympian. I feel like that is why he will out live the other captives.

Confession #9 I love my child

I am hitting that age where my baby is no longer a baby. It's that moment when the innocence is not so innocence. I was a handful so I knew that he was going to be a handful so don't get me wrong I knew what I was getting into.... However there are those moments the once that you can't believe your actually living or your waiting for the guys with cameras to come out because it just that far out there.... That's the moment I was having today. My lovely toddler woke up pissed at the world ....he was screaming kicking "I want a banana ( which really sounds like nana) " he screams over and over again. I very calmly said mommy will get you one after we get dressed for day care. That was my first mistake right there. "No daycare I want grandma!" He bellowed through the house. Finally have a wrestling match between us ... I won being bigger and more knowledgable .... We come down and I peal the banana and give it to him expecting a sweet innocent thank you mom..... Wrong I guess we have to peal our own bananas these days because there went the screaming stomping and yelling out the door with banana in hand we went. We get buckled in our seats somewhat composed to five minutes into our ten minute drive to daycare banana thrown from the back seat of the car to the front not once not twice but three different parts of this banana thrown at me. I always wanted to be a stay at home mom ... Thankfully this day I was happy to go to work!

Confession #8

I am officially old... I rang in the new year by sleeping ... Don't forget I have a toddler that likes to get up at the crack of dawn so no partying no drinking and very restful! Ok so with January first here already I am back on the blogging writing about my passion for books and for the love of my family as they are the crazys that make this life fun!! I am reading right now "big little lies" by moriarty liane. Cute little murder mystery that I am enjoying the gossip between women that have all their children in the kindergarten class. How their politics play into their school and how odd Madeline our main character is. At 40 she is crazy enthusiastic and fun to read about. Book has been great I am about 25% through it. I also just finished the art of racing in the rain vet heartfiled book had me crying at the end. If you love dogs this is your book to read from the family dogs perspective of how thing work. Ok so here is to blogging again 2015! Hope all your dreams come true this year!
